Michael Robinson is a multidisciplinary visual artist, creative director, independent curator, and educator.
His Brooklyn based studio focuses on building community through meaningful design work for various brands, cultural institutions, universities, fashion, performance, music, and the visual arts. Robinson is an adjunct professor at Parsons School of Design, twice nominated for excellence in teaching.
He also independently lectures about art, design, creative leadership and exhibits at various conferences, festivals, workshops, and retreats including Central St. Martins, TRImarchi, Altos de Chavon, Universidad Iberoamericana, Hollins University, The Open Center, and the Burning Man Global Leadership Conference. Robinson has moderated panel discussions with Ross Bleckner, Milton Glaser, Mirko Ilić, Android Jones, Daniel Pinchbeck, Alex Grey, Graham Hancock, and organized events and retreats with Sting, Russell Brand, Alejandro Jodorowsky, Elena Brower, Reggie Watts, Thievery Corp., Paul D. Miller a.k.a. DJ Spooky, and Sharon Gannon.
In 2006, he co-founded Evolver and launched its web magazine Reality Sandwich. Evolver includes Evolver Learning Labs, a webinar platform, the publishing imprint, Evolver Editions distributed by Random House, a resource for impact capitalism with over 3 million users, Evolver Social Movement, and The Alchemist's Kitchen, a retail, education, and event space in downtown Manhattan.
Mr. Robinson curated the Levi Strauss & Co.'s 150th Anniversary of the 501 (2003), Levi Strauss & Co.'s 12 Conditions (2004) Evolver’s Wake Up and Dream Salon (2008), Toward 2012 at Collective Hardware (2009), and the Conscientia Studio Retreat series (2008-2011). He was part of City Harvest’s 2008 FOCUS benefit auction committee as the creative director with Uma Thurman, Susan Sarandon, Rachel Ray, Kevin Bacon, Maalak Rock, Eric Ripert, Timothy White, Whoopi Goldberg, and John Varvatos helping to raise $250,000 in photography sales for hunger relief.
Since 2007 Michael has also worked for Burners Without Borders (BWB), a grassroots, volunteer-driven, community leadership organization whose goal is to support volunteers from around the world in innovative disaster relief solutions & community resiliency projects. His design work for BWB has been featured in the City of Dust: The Evolution of Burning Man show at the Nevada Museum of Art (2017), and the upcoming No Spectators: The Art of Burning Man exhibition at the Smithsonian American Art Museum (2018).
